Description
A hardy floriferous perennial that the hummingbirds, butterflies and beneficial pollinators will thank you for planting, ‘Rosie Posie’ Agastache, commonly called Hummingbird Mint, features abundant spikes with LOADS of bicolor hot pink flowers with magenta-purple calyxes that are so colorful that this plant looks like it’s still blooming even after the flowers have faded. That said, this one flowers over a long period from early to mid summer through early fall, depending on your location. It’s aromatic, mint-scented, bright green foliage is much more dense, compact and refined than older Agastache cultivars, making it a perfect selection for smaller garden spaces and containers. Tolerating dry soils when established, this is a very easy perennial to grow.
Landscape / Garden Uses
Growing 2 feet tall and maybe a little wider, Rosie Posie Agastache is ideal for use an accent in smaller garden spaces and containers or grouped in larger perennial borders in perennial gardens. A fine addition to hummingbird gardens, butterfly gardens, beneficial pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, pink theme gardens, and Xeriscape gardens (low water needs).
Growing Preferences
Rosie Posie Agastache is very easy to grow when planted right, and in the right spot. It prefers a well-drained moist to damp soil and full sun to mostly sun for best flowering. A constantly soggy or wet soil can cause root rot. Quite drought tolerant when established. Deadheading spent flowers encourages rebloom.
